*dhe:- `to set, put'. Oldest form *dheH1-. 1a. Alb. <ndonj> `to
set', probably from prefixed form *H1en- + *dhe:-n-yo with regular
*e: > Alb. /o/; b. further prefixed form vë-n-donj with deverbative
<ven(d)> `place' became dominant in Albanian, loosing so far its
derivative origin. Furthermore, prefix vë-/vnu- gets by its form the
meaning of originary n-donj. Probably this was a reason Orel to
claim: "vë-vê aor. vura – vuna `to put' is Proto-Albanian innovation
*awena replacing IE *dhe:- (including such idioms as <I vë emrin `to
give a name' <*onomn. dhe:-". First, seems, he was not aware that
present Gheg form was not <vê>, but much older one <vnoj> from much
oldest one <vndoj> as well as that aor. Gheg stem is not <vuna>, but
<vnova>, so its conclusion is completely wrong. Indeed, as I have
proved *au yields in Alb. <a> in demonstrative pronouns: a-i, a-jo,
a-ta, a-to and is in opposition with *ko(m)-. Nevertheless, *au,
followed by spirant, yields af- (cf. Lat. causa > Alb.
<kafshë> `reason') as well as followed by voiced dental av- (cf.
laus, laudis > Alb. <lavd>), so v- may be from *av-, but as f-,
followed by liquids (cf. <f-ruth> etc.). Fact that v- is used before
dental /d/, testifies in indirect way that primary form of Alb.
<ndonj> was really <donj>, that later gets its homorganic /n/.
So, *au- in form v-/f- preserves the meaning "from", until in /a/
meaning 'away'.

Any comments?
