Perhaps, though this "Caland" -i- is hard to distinguish from a
Sieversian vowel inserted after a heavy syllable (the length of the
vowel can hardly be significant here). Perhaps the formative suffix was
simply dropped in the comparative, as in the case of *-u- adjectives, so
we have *kséud-(i)jos- from *ksud-ró- just like *pléh1-jos- from *pl.h1-ú-.
