Read Hamp's derivation again. It was the innovated _feminine_ form of
"two" (/dy:/) that provided the model for <sy:>, because of the original
identity of feminine and neuter dual forms. /dy:/ itself comes from
*dy-ë (cf. masculine /dy/).
