What's the point of this questioning? Surely a palatoalveolar consonant
(C^) may contrast with the sequence C^j. In my own accent of Polish
there is even a contrast between /m'/ (palatalised bilabial nasal) and
the cluster /m(')j/: I have the former in <ziemia> 'earth' and the
latter in <chemia> 'chemistry'. Polish also contrasts /n'/ with /n'j/,
as respectively in <dania> (pl. of <danie> 'dish, course of a meal') vs.
<Dania> 'Denmark'.
