It's rather simple: I got interested in the history of English some time
ago and started reading about it. Now I teach it at a university and
make a relatively decent living from it.

-- Did you find the history of English more interesting than those of other languages?  I too got interested in the history of English, from about age 10, but I am an anglophone and it arose from finding out about etymologies in the dictionaries I had to consult for schoolwork.  I just wonder what makes a Pole interested in the history of English.  And do you teach it at a Polish university?  By the way, I wish that were my occupation too, but unfortunately for me I developed mental illness at the end of my bachelor's studies and had to withdraw from university.
