Oh dear. Please be careful when researching Etruscan
online. It's terribly easy to go astray and to
adopt a _theory_ because you mistake it as fact. In
fact, many published books by even the more respected
Etruscanologists deserve our scrutiny.
Rick McCallister had created that "glossary" in the
attempt to list off every possible account for each
attested word or stem. This is why he meticulously
accompanies each _possible_ translation of each
individual word with a bracketed symbol representing
the source of the _claim_.
So you must understand that when you see the entry
for 'ruma' on this site, it is up to you, the viewer,
to weed out the incredible theories from the sensible
ones. It was evidently not Rick's intention to
sift it out himself. Perhaps he may have felt that
it would only introduce his own biases into the data.
This would be quite a large task for anyone to do and
so we should be thankful that there is at least
someone who bothered to supply such a resource at all
for us.
With no disrespect to the webauthor, we must take the
entries with a grain of salt, or perhaps a grain of
our own judiciousness.
