Sanskrit question

I was re-reading HR Ellis Davidson's "Gods and myths of Northern
Europe" over the past week and came across some remarks about Tuisto
(on pg 199) where she states that it is believed the name is related
to the Old Swedish 'Tvistra' - meaning 'seperate' and that "like
Ymir, it means a two-fold being."

Which made me think about the Vedic God Tvastr.
In MacDonnell's "Vedic Mythology" he concludes the name is related to
the word root 'tvaks' (with the Avestan cognate 'thwaks') and that
both are related to the Sanskrit 'taks'.
MacDonnell concludes these various terms all imply a name
meaning 'fashioner/artificer'.

Surely the meaning fits, but interestingly, Tvastr's daughter gives
birth to the first truly mortal twins Yama and Yami. With that in
mind, I couldn't help but ponder the similarity between the Vedic
Tvastr and the Old Swedish term Tvistra - does anyone know if there
is a Vedic term which means twin or seperate or some such thing,
which may be linguistically related to Tvastr???

Sincerely,
Aydan
