On the third hand, if your rule for m.n.gen.sg. *-o.o > *-owo (I think
it was) is to work too, -VV- across a syllable boundary will cause a
glide too, and then Occam would recommend you to assign the creation
of -w- in staviti, baviti to the same time, after the loss of
laryngeals.
