Far from it. The type berú, which reflects an IE thematic present,
is from a PSl. mobile pattern, i.e. *béroN, *beres^I´, *beretI',
*beremU', *bereté, *beroNtI' (before the events known as Stang's
law). The type mogú is from a PSl. columnal pattern, i.e. *mógoN,
*móz^es^I, *móz^etI, etc.; the basis is an IE perfect with present
meaning. There is no visible connection with anything reminiscent of
Latin sum.
