Sure, Sergei. I had looked it up in Fraenkel who gives most of the
meanings you give and when I sat back to write about it I had
apparently forgotten. It will still be a correct etymology, though.
The meanings of raidùs give a common impression like 'straight,
even, ready, handy, comfortable'. He glosses Latvian raids
as 'bereit, fertig'. The point of departure of all of this could
well be 'passable'.
