No, the genitive of *nókWt-s is *nékWt-s (Hitt. nekuz mehur 'time of
night'); and there is *wékW-os in Gk. épos, Skt. vácas. The nom.
*wó:kW-s (with gen. *wekW-ós) of the root noun is just like *pó:ds
(gen. *ped-ós, replacing *péd-s). These vowels are independent of the
consonantal environment.
