Albanian nom. ju may reflect IE *yus in the same manner as jo-
reflects
*sa:. The reflex of initial *s- and *y- before vowels is <gj->, and
the
lenited version of that is j-. A long *-u:- should of course yield -
i- in
a monosyllable, but what are we to expect in a reduced word? I
therefore
strongly believe that ju is *yu:s. The oblique u can be the enclitic
*wos.
