of course there is not an automatismus in Italian because the desinences
are present.
It :io posso, tu puoi, lui puo, noi possiamo, voi potete, loro possono
Rom : eu pot, tu potsi, el poate, noi putem, voi puteti, ei pot(poate)

The automatismus appears when more as two desinences are gone, then
appears the need for it. Take German as axample:
ich mache, du machst, er macht, wir machen, ihr macht, sie machen

There is already the problem. 3 sg and 2 pl merge together, 1 pl and 3
pl merge together, thus there is the need for the use of the personal
pronoun which becomes an automatismus.

could you reformulate it? I don't quiet understand the using of the
"unstressed personal pronuns" in this context.

That sounds exactly as what you said at the begining: doctrine of
grammarians:-))
