All I can say is that both *-k^t- and *-kWt- yield -t-. I can't think
of any examples of PIE *-kt- > Alb. *-t- off the top of my head, but
I'd be really surprised if the outcome were different. I don't think
we can know what, if any, the intermediate stages were. The treatment
of Latin loans (and the development of Latin clusters in Balkan
Romance) are of course much later processes and have no direct
relevence to the original question.
