I'm trying to understand the cosmography described in the Edda, but it' s being very hard. There are a lot of contraditions and enigmatica definitions.

For example:

According to the Norsemen, there was a heaven above heaven, called Andlang (the expanded), and above this was a third heaven, called Vidblain (the wide and blue; the far-blue). This realm is beyond the world, and even during the destruction of the world – when the fires of Surt annihilate everything – this realm remains untouched. It is the great Beyond, the eternal and infinite. It is the realm of Odin. Gimle, the abode of the blessed, is located there (see Gimle). Gimle means “lee of fire,”

So, must we assume three levels? Three skies?
