I think this was suggested by various people a while back - like Rasmussen
for example. Either way, there is a genuine question whether reduplication
was originally a *necessary* part of the perfect forms. In addition to
*woid- there are forms like Latin (g)novi which seem never to have had
reduplication. But I'm sure you're more in touch with all this than I am!
