Final rhotacism, often mentioned as an explication of the heteroclit
declension w-d-r, w-d-n- suggests to me what I think is called
a "flapped r" used in English RP between vowels, an apical r with
one single flap as in bury.
Considering the r in Indian corresponding to l in other branches
suggests to me a more American-like r.
