But isn't this *buk- a denasalised variant of *boNk-, as in Pol. ba,k
(used for several noisy critters, from horseflies to bitterns) beside
<buczec'> 'to drone'? I think a connection with *bHeuh2- 'grow' is at
least equally possible.
