Hello All,
I want to point out this rule :
PAlb(Dacian?) *wa > Rom. o <-> Alb. va:

Samples:

1. Pokorny PIE wel-7 'to round' > PAlb. *walwo: 'circular dance' >
Rom. horã 'id.' <-> Alb. valle 'id.'

Note: Rom. 'horã' is considered from Bg. horo < Grk. khoros (already
discussed here).

2. Pokorny PIE wel-2 'to wish' > PAlb. *wala 'really?maybe?' > Rom.
oare 'id' <-> Alb. vallë 'id'

Note:
Rom. 'oare' 'really?maybe?' is considered from Lat. volet but in fact
Lat. vo - Rom. vo see Lat. 'voster' > Rom. 'vostru' (so Rom. oare <
Lat. volet would be a singularity in this case)

Other treatements *wa>o in Romanian:

1. Lat. una > ORom. unã (see Aromanian 'unã') > *uã > Rom. uo
(attested) > Rom. o (fem. 'one')

2. Pokorny PIE wer-5 'to close, cover; to guard, save'
or Pokorny PIE wer-2 'highland, high place, top, high'
(Pokorny: 'Comments: extended wer-d-, wer-s- '):
(maybe from a derived *weh2r-s-ia?) >language?. *war-(a)s-ia (? > see
Hun 'var/varosh') <-> Rom orash 'city'

Note:
We have also Alb. vathë 'paddock;sheep-fold' > PAlb. *wars-tsa? (if
so reflecting a title word '*war-(a)s-ia' or *war(s)-t(a)-tsa (where
th-in Alb. 'vathë' seems to reflect a diminutive ending Alb. -th(ë) <
PAlb *tsa) (together with the other words discussed on this forum
reflecting PIE *wer-5 'to close, to guard' )

Questions:
1. What is the PIE of Latin urbs 'city' ? Is also wer-5?
2. What is the PIE for 'Europa'? But for Grk. euros ?
3. What is the PIE for Thracian 'bria' ? (Pokorny linked it to wer-
2 < *wer-ji-a:)
4. Can somebody add here others examples of *rst > th or *rts > th
or *rt > th or *rsts>th or *rtts> th in Albanian as in Alb. 'vathë'
(Pokorny linked it to wer-5 : *wor-ta: and based on the rule above we
can check if possible or not)?

Rule:
In Romanian an older PAlb(Dacian?) *wa generated Rom. 'o' via: wa >
wã > wo > o. In Albanian PAlb(Dacian?) *wa generated Alb. va.

Note:

However the Latin words in Romanian show Lat. va > Rom. va <-> Alb. va

Samples:
Latin vacca > Rom vaca 'cow'
Latin vadum > Rom vad 'ford' <-> Alb. va 'id.'
Latin vae > Rom vai (interj.), vãieta 'to mourn' <-> Alb.
vaj 'id.', vajtoj~vojtoj 'id.'
Latin vallis> Rom vale 'valley' <-> only in Alb. expr. 'mal
e val'

Please note va~vo in Albanian vajtoj~vojtoj from Latin vae.

Also the Latin words in Romanian show Lat. vo <-> Rom. vo
Samples:
Latin voster/vostra > Rom. vostru/voastre 'II.pl. your'

Conclusion:
PAlb(Dacian?) *wa > Rom. o <-> Alb. va shows an older treatement
than the Latin loans in Romanian and Albanian where Lat. va <-> Rom.
va <-> Alb. va.

Only The Best,
Marius
