Hey, THAT was Miguel's point: Hirt's Law fails in the *iHC or *uHC
contexts if the laryngeal was h2 or h3. Actually, your examples
(*pih3u- > *pivo 'a drink', *gWih3ru- >*z^irU 'generous fare, fat',
*deh3r- > *darU 'gift', *gWih3wós > *z^ivU 'alive') further
strengthen his point, as does gWriHwéh2 > *griva 'mane', if
indeed "related in some way to *gWer(h3)- 'swallow'" (to quote EIEC).
This is indeed getting more and more interesting.
