It's epenthetic. Slavic always has it in *sr > str of any origin,
including the reflex of PIE *k^r (cf. *ostrU 'sharp' < *h2ak^ros). The
Baltic outcome of *-sr- and *-k^r- (with or without t-epenthesis) is
dialectally variable.

These <t>'s are of different origin -- suffixal or part of the root, but
