The primitive WGmc. form is *�un(a)r-a- (see OE �unor, �unres with
non-lowered *u). If Thuring- is to be derived from that, one may assume
*�unr-ing- > �uring- via dissimilatory simplification. Too many nasals: cf.
*ximina- > *himil-, *hibin- > Himmel, heaven, or *kuninga- > king, K�nig.
