If vowels were generally lengthened before -Ns in Indo-Iranian it
should also appear with other cases of -Ns than the accusative
plural. It does not do that, so I infer that the length of acc.pl. -
a:n is inherited. So I posit IE *-o:ns or *-o:ms. I don't like the
simplicity of this: what did I miss?
