I suggest you look at modern Cuban Spanish, where final -d hasall but
disappeared in some areas. Also, interestingly enough, giving the nasty
'superlong vowel'. e.g.

sp. edad-> cuban eda::

Also, note sp. -ado -> -a::o in much of the spanish speaking world.
