If fact, it's just as straightforward and phonologically regular as,
say, <pãrinte> from <parens>/<parentem> or <pieptene> from
<pecten>/<pectinem>. The generalisation of the Latin nom.sg. rather than
the oblique stem is rare but neither impossible nor unprecedented.
