Actually, /.../ is rather the phonological transcription while
the phonetical should be bracketed [...] (fortunately these are
in the ASCII set). Also used are some characters from ISO-Latin1
set, recognized by most OSs (for actual spellings or information
on stress). The sequences '...' or `...` are to be used for word
meaning, but "..." is often used for that matter on the list.
