Sure, but the issue is how Semitic substrate would have gotten to Europe.
I mentioned the Minoans. Think of the Minoans like the United Federation of
Planets. So you got your Humans, your Klingons, your Vulcans, Romulans,
Ferengi, etc, etc. all coming to a station at the edge of a wormhole called
Deep Space Nine. Think of Deep Space Nine as the Western Mediterranean.

So like the Federation of Planets, the Minoans are really a conglomerate of
various cultures such as West Semites, Egyptians and Myceneans. Who's to
say that a significant number of _Semites_ didn't use the Minoan thalassic
portal to escape to the edge of the gamma quadrant where the shapeshifting
Basque dominion resided.

If anything can be gained from this, at the very least accept the cute
Gene Roddenbury plot :)
