to Summer solstice events (rites)?

Novgorod chronic [1143]; the Russian word [koročjun] means WINTER solstice
and was the name of a divinity of winter and death [see Cristian Ionescu,
Dictionar de onomastica, ed. Elion, 2001, page 113]. For Al. Rosetti
[Istoria Limbii Romane, ed. Stiintifica si Enciclopedica, Buc., 1978, page
618-624 where his study from 1944 on the meaning of Craciun is republished]
the meaning of the word is “Zeitbestimmung … vom 15 Aug. bis zum?”
