Hello All,
The issue is that we don't have in Romanian other examples where
Latin. e becomes Rom. u (like in the supposed lat. de post > rom.
dup~a)
As I know, the transformation rules are more important than the
possible cognates.
So the links with italian and other dialects have of course
their importance too, but first we have to ensure some coherent
internal rules inside romanian , if not , everything could be
derived from everything (like dVpV -> dup~a).
So please try to explain using the internal Romanian rules how
original lat. e arrived to an u in Romanian?
