I recall from somewhere that among Egyptian rites were ones where the
pharaoh was in effect Min (or maybe in conjunction with Amun Ra) to
support the continued fertility of the land, and the sun's rising in
the morning.

And to take us back to India, was it not the case that part of the
ritual for confirming the status of some rajahs was appearing
ithyphallic before his people. But this takes us a long way from
soma.
