Is there evidence indicating the use of dogs in herding, as
opposed to hunting, or guarding the camp, or just hanging around,
goes back to PIE dates?
Of course, 'pek^wu-' must have had its own prehistory, probably
unreconstructible, and there are many ways dogs and what became
livestock animals could be associated.
