The solution to this assumption can be found easily, I suppose.
For instance, Mr. Abdullah Konusevci might kindly tell us whether
modern & contemporary Albanians choose the male onomastic item
<Aziz> as inspired by the Dacian god <Azizus> or rather by Islamic
onomastics. If though the former possibility is the valid one, then
I'd be eager myself to learn how come that they honor this way
that obscure ancient pagan deity -- especially since Albanians have
been taught for many years now that they are Illyrians.

OTOH, Vasile Pârvan, an excellent archeologist (active at the
beginning of the 20th c.), wasn't a linguist, AFAIK.
And in the cited text (thank you for sharing it with us) he barely
makes an assumption that both toponyms Adzizio and Azizis might
be put in connection with the deity mentioned on an artefact found
in Patavissa -- an area quite far away from Albania. Yet there has
been no way of *concluding* a relation Adzizio-Azizis-Azizos.

But what's on-topic: there's no hint that those toponyms and the
name of the deity can be put in some relation with the modern
Albanian male name Aziz. (I expect this idea didn't cross Pârvan's
mind either.) In the same way, I myself could speculate that Aziz-,
as an ancient Thracian (maybe Dacian) name, could be a reflex of,
say, <azen> "chin", < PIE *g"(h)en--. My speculation wouldn't look
less spectacular, would it? Considering that a... defiant chin fits both
a proud deity and a bold Dacian warrior. ;-)
