I think it's the use of a -amen suffix (*lignamen) as a collective or intensive suffix. In Portuguese we have -ame and -ume (cf. negrume "blackness, darkness, deep blackness", azedume "bitterness")
      Hello,
Can it be the same suffix as Lithuanian suffix -uma, -umas? For example, word TAMSUS means DARK, but word TAMSUMA means DARKNESS, word KARTUS means BITTER, but word KARTUMA means BITTERNESS, etc.
