However I found it in Ulfila Bible(311) as "gards" (gothic).

    So
     a) it is a germanic word loan by Daco-Romanians and albanians
and next used by the slavs  or

     b) It is a germanic word loan by slavs and next used by
Romanians and albanians?

       Hello,

I think that word GARDAS is Thracian word loan by Albanians.

Thracian language have splitted into Antravagian, Budenian, Dacian, Galindian, Kurshian, Latgalian, Lithuanian, Nadruvian, Niurian, Prussian, Selian, Skalvian, Suduvian, Zhemaitian and Zhemgalian languages.

Prussian language have splitted into Germanic languages.

Proto Slavic language have appeared as mix of Thracian and Bulgarian languages.

So, I think, these facts explains what was way of word GARDAS.
