The inaugural posting was sent by Sasha Stolbov (still with us), to whom
the honorary title of Marathonomaches (or Veteranus Laureatus) is hereby
awarded. The bearer may use the letters MM after his name if he so wishes.
Four years later we have 449 members (the latest figure) and 25520+
postings in the archive (17+ messages a day on the average). Thank you
all for such exemplary activity. 'Was hail!' -- 'Drink hail!' as they
said in Middle English.
