BTW, the possible satem Balto-Slavic reflexes of the same PIE etymon
(Lith. <z^árdas> 'drying rack (for grain, peanuts, flax); (part of a)
fence; enclosure', Latv. <zãrds> 'drying rack (for grain, peanuts,
flax)', Russ. dial. <(o)zoród> 'drying rack (for hay, grain);
haystack', Ukr. <ozoród>, Bel. <azaród> 'drying (rack, room)') would
point either to a different root extention (*d or *Hd(H)?) or to a
lenghthened grade (if one accepts, after Jens, the traditional point
of view).
