Since verbs were inflected for person, yes, *eg^o: would be
for an added emphasis or perhaps to introduce oneself as the
new topic (eg: "AS FOR ME, I went to the store."). I also
suspect that there were verbless phrases or sentences
where *eg^o: might come in handy since one could not
then rely on verbal inflection. Perhaps an example of this
would be */Potnix est, nu eg^o: kWe/ "The lady was, and so
(was) I."
