confirm the estrangement of the Vlachs from the Latin
world just 140 years after the collapse of the Danube
frontier. I was unable to find evidence of any
interest in these Christianized remnants of the Old
Empire on the part of the hierarchies of either Rome
or Constantinople. The designation as "Vlachs"
(adoption of the Slavic label)of people who presumably
called themselves "Romans" (in their way)would seem
eloquent enough. But all this is speculative. Does
your Chronicle say anything about their religion?*****
