   This is truly stretching it.  There is indeed an Italo-Celtic hypothesis, but as far as I know it has fallen from popularity.  Even if it were true, however, it would have existed at such a time depth that to discount Gaulish (and Celtiberian, for that matter) inscriptions because of it would be just plain silly.
   I'm also wondering at what date you are making the cut off.  How early does a text have to be from in order to count?  And why?  Would the older Ogham inscriptions count, or the older runic ones?
