Aktually. The disticnction in ajectives and nouns is not human/non-
humen. I think animate/inanimate in a better term in lack of a more
precise term. Things that are active, are usually placed in
the "animate", inactive things in the "inanimate".

The pronouns have also this animate/inanimate-ditinction, but the
animate is subdivided in humans-masculine, humans-feminine, and
things. For eksample in standard Norwegian "Bokmål"

Animate:

han-he
hun-she
den-it

Inanimate

det-it

Norwegian have two standards - Bokmål and Nynorsk.

The most important, bokmål, is based upon the speech around Oslo.
Historicly this was based upon Danish writing, but has gradually
been changes in the direction of the Oslo dialect. In this process,
the Danish probably also have had an impact upon the speech in this
region,

Nynorsk is mostly based upon the dialects in the south-western and
inner southern parts of Normay. These dialects and Nynorsk have a
more conservative gender system of the same type that you find in
German and old IE languages. Actually the old gender system is very
well preserved in these dialets.
