Phonetics say the term should be considered as Slavic-filtered,
even if ultimately from Latin.

Romanian did not inherit a Latin word for `rose`, "rujã" is
from (South-)Slavic ("ruZa").

Basical meanings are for "sec" `dry` and for "a seca" `to dry (up),
to drain`. `empty` is a marginal derived sense, and `to cut` belongs
to Alex's sub-sub-dialect; elsewhere we use "a tãia". :-)
