What's your subdialectal problem? For many a
Romanian, any [i] is shorter/easier to pronounce.
So, not in every situation without exception
will resort *every* Romanian to [&] and [I]
(as vowels for the... lazybones :-). In some
circumstances, [e] and [i] gives you enough
"Sprachökonomie". (Thus, for... millions of
Romanians it better suits to mumble "o vinit"
and "laptili", instead of "a venit laptele". In
certain areas, people prefer to say "o vint"
[vi:nt]. But of course neither of those sub-
dialectal areas will ever say "vinitul pe
cap de locuitor" or "vintul pe cap de locuitor".)

[a venit = came/has come; laptele = the milk;
venitul = (here) the income per capita]
