Point taken, Eva. I have not been happy with the general tenor of
the debate either, and I honestly have not been meaning to simply
show off. I try to stick to the point and only adduce facts of
relevance for the point to be made. However, my codebaters' highly
creative search for loopholes in arguments I have put forward has
forced me to be very explicit and often quite complicated in my
formulations so as to forestall counterattacks. I realize this may
have contributed to electrifying the atmosphere even further. Still,
whatever comes out "on the other side" of a debate like this will
have a very good chance of being right. So perhaps in the end it is
worth the fight.
