Absolute tripe! PIE /l/ and /r/ are preserved unchanged in Latin, except
where they are:
(a) affected by assimilation (eg intellego)
(b) simplified in a consonant cluster (eg posco < *porsco)
(c) dissimilated (eg vulgaris < *vulgalis)
