DEX gives the rom word from Slavic propasti. It can be a Slavic word
since the /ã/ and /â/ is rendered as /e/ or /a/ in Ukrainean:
rom. flãcãu, Ukr "flekew"
rom. cãpãstru , Ukr "kapestru"
rom. mãlai , Ukr "melai", etc.
