German heulen (Du. huilen, Dan. hyle, MHG hiuweln) is a verb derived
from the name of the owl (OHG hu:wila "owl"). If the Romanian is
connected, it can only be borrowed from new High German, not from
Middle or Old High German, Gothic or Gepidic.

From Latin bufo, bubo

From Greek a-zymos.

mãlai "cornflour", mãlãieT "mellow, soft". Unlikely to have anything
to do with Mehl.

puTã < Latin putea "pit(s)"
