term "pikinini" given below has any relationship to the derogatory
English term "pickaninny"? They both seem to refer to offspring.
Is "pikinini" just the word "pickaninny" filtered through Tok Pisin,

Sure. > Sp. 'pequeno nino' or Port. 'pequenino'. I suppose
Portuguese is more likely if Eng. picked it up on the African coast
and Spanish if in America.
