When one writes whatever publication, one is doing so coloured with one's
own opinion of things. We should naturally find only one version supplied,
simply because we only ever have one point of view. If the publication
was meant to be a compendium of various thoughts on IE, then of course we
should be shown the various versions and I have seen such things. It depends
on the purpose of the opus, and it's the job of the reader to understand
this purpose. If the reader needs to be spoonfed to realize that
uncertainties still exist in comparative linguistics, then the reader
should ask to go see a doctor about remedying his or her ongoing feelings
of haziness with proper diet and/or medication.
