Your suggestion to look for another root should be worthy, if Alb.
verb was not a homonymic one. Besides the meaning 'to burn up' it
preserved also the meaning 'to finish, to complete' or another
original meaning 'to ripen'. Lets see its derivations: përsos 'to
perfect, to polish', përsosje 'perfection', i përsosur 'perfect',
etc.
