There was no *e > h in Greek. <hippos> is an exceptional case, and what corresponds (somewhat irregularly) to PIE *e is the /i/ (the /h/ occurred only in Attic, by the way; other dialects had <ippos>). Alex, don't expect me to give you a crash course in Ancient Greek in a couple of e-mail postings. You have to learn in on your own. Wait until you master the spelling at least before you start speculating about Greek etymology!
